Recharge Our Economy!Add my name to the 5470 people who have pledged to support the initiative.
Recognizing the need to secure a clean energy future, volunteers and petitioners gathered 163,000 signatures to put the Clean Energy Initiative on the November 2008 ballot in Missouri. On November 4th, voters across the state will decide whether Missouri should move forward with a Clean Energy Initiative. The Clean Energy Initiative requires all Missouri investor-owned electric utilities (Ameren, Empire, Aquila, and KCP&L) to get 15% of their electricity from renewable sources by the year 2021. Renewables are defined as clean sources of energy like wind, solar, landfill gas, biomass, and small hydroelectric projects. Twenty-six states have already passed a similar policy often known as a "Renewable Electricity Standard" (RES). In Missouri, elected officials have introduced, but failed to pass, an RES for the last 8 consecutive years. On November 4, Vote Yes to bring Clean Energy to Missouri.
